The purpose of individual counseling is to explore the patient’s feelings and behaviours, relations with others, choices and decisions as well as his/her current situation.
The service is provided to persons with psychiatric conditions, substance abusers, juveniles presenting behavioural problems and older persons of the Geriatric Hospital. In-patients receive the service as a part of their treatment process. Out-patients are encouraged to telephone or visit the Health Social Services Offices and make their request known.
Persons residing outside of New Providence wishing to access the service (e.g. Out-patients) can request individual counseling at the Social Services Office in their district.
